A Closer Look at #5 Keenan Rucker – In Rewind

In 2013, Keenan Rucker would become the only underground or indie artists, that The Neighborhood would send out a search party to find. His cover song Without You, was one of 7 songs to be nominated for Song of the Year at thepublicblogger Awards (now called A Star is Born). His sister would make contact, with an alert that she would get the message to him. A short while later – after dues to society had been paid –  #5 would hesitantly, peek into the world of thepublicblogger, but never really stepped inside.

Note to An Aspiring Rapper. 

A word to the wise,
sometimes we give up on our passions
before they have the chance to rise.
Keenan Rucker is a demonstration of that.

He has not recorded any new songs in over a year.
His Facebook page sits abandoned,
lost of all hope
of ever becoming an industry star.
Rucker recorded a number of tracks,
most of which are mediocre at best.

But Without You demonstrates a brilliant artist,
who may simply have been lost.

Fast forward to the present day, and either karma has reached Missouri or #5 has taken a closer look and now fully comprehends, that The Neighborhood belongs to him too. He has outlasted 94 other numbers and finds himself on the verge of a Final 4 appearance. And while congenial thinking may still find him a long shot from the win, just remember Rebecca Lemke. before you bet against him.
